As you’ve been learning throughout our series on massage modalities, there are many kinds of massage. So far we’ve covered several, including Swedish Massage, Shiatsu, Neuromuscular Therapy, Connective Tissue Therapy, and Sports Massage. In this article, we will briefly go over the healthcare-related modalities medical massage, oncology massage, and pregnancy massage.
Alisha is an LMT and an Arizona native who graduated from ASIS in 2005. She has extensive experience working with clients who suffer from chronic or terminal illness, physical and mental disabilities, and acute injuries. Her self-care includes yoga, painting, and enjoying the great outdoors with her family. Alisha is inspired to further her own professional career by sharing the knowledge of her experience in massage therapy with new generations of massage therapists at ASIS Massage Education’s Flagstaff campus.
Sports massage therapy is beneficial to all levels of athlete, from the hard core to the weekend warrior. Clients can benefit from sports massage before, during, and after an event, and also during recovery from an injury.
